Our Week in the Forest
As we reach the end of term we have spent lots of time enjoying fun games and activities in the forest!
We have enjoyed some exciting tool work this week, which included sawing wood cookies and making necklaces out of brambles. We have also made strawberry jam and been hunting for butterflies around the forest. As well as this, we’ve seen pirate dens created, play-dough making and sensory activities using lots of different textures and smells.
Every time we have tool work activities available, the children love to take part. This week we spent time with one of our educators making necklaces using the brambles. Our Little Forest Folk-ers took turns to whittle the spikes off of the brambles and then drilled the centre out. Once the centre was clear they then threaded them on to some string to create their necklaces. The children loved wearing them around and showing them to their families at the end of the day!
We have also had lots of fun this week enjoying some fun role play games! We had a pirate ship in the forest so the children could explore the seven seas! They climbed aboard and then set sail, spotting pirates and a giant octopus along the way! We also had to work together to fix the boat using pieces of wood we found around the forest, tying them on to make sure they were secure!
As well as all of this, we have also been hunting for butterflies for the Big Butterfly Count, looking to see how many we can find and identifying different breeds.
It has been a busy last week of term and we are excited for all the Summer fun in the coming weeks!!
